183rd Infantry, Regimental Color. Composed entirely of men from Philadelphia, the 183rd was organized in the fall of 1863-early spring 1864. The Union League of Philadelphia assisted in the organization and equipping of the unit, and it was therefore nicknamed the "4th Union League Regiment." On February 22, 1864 the League presented a regimental and national color to the regiment. The 183rd was mustered out of service on July 13, 1865.

183rd Infantry, State Color. Composed entirely of men from Philadelphia, the 183rd was organized in the fall of 1863-early spring 1864. The Union League of Philadelphia assisted in the organization and equipping of the unit, and it was therefore nicknamed the "4th Union League Regiment." The state color was forwarded to the regiment sometime after late November 1864, and carried until the regiment was disbanded. The 183rd was mustered out of service on July 13, 1865.
