106th Infantry, First State Color. The 106th is composed mostly of men from Philadelphia, however, it also included companies from Bradford, Lycoming, and Montgomery counties. They were organized at the end of August 1861, and received their first state color sometime after December. The flag was retired in the winter of 1863 when the regiment received a replacement. During the summer fight at Petersburg, 1864, most of the regiment was captured. The survivors were consolidated with the 69th PA, and most did not re-enlist. The regiment was mustered out of service on September 10, 1864.
