48th Infantry, First State Color, see Addenda, AVC p. 535. The 48th is exclusively from Schuylkill County and was organized in September 1861. The color was presented by Governor Curtin on September 20. In the winter of 1863-1864 most of the men re-enlisted, and the flag was left behind in February 1864. The regiment was mustered out of service on July 17, 1865.

48th Infantry, National Color. The 48th was composed of men from Schuylkill County and was organized in September 1861. The National Color was carried by the 48th until the end of the war. The 48th was mustered out of service July 17, 1865.

48th Infantry, Record Banner. The 48th regiment was composed of men from Schuylkill County and was organized in September 1861. The record banner was made because the colors of the 48th were so tattered and torn as to prevent the battle honors from being painted on. The 48th was mustered out of service on July 17, 1865.

48th PA Infantry, Second State Color. The 48th was exclusively from Schuylkill County, and was organized in September 1861. The second flag was received in February 1864 when the tattered first state color was left behind when the men returned to the front. The regiment was mustered out of service on July 17, 1865.

48th Infantry, Possible remnant of 1861 Pottsville Flag. The 48th regiment was composed entirely of men from Schuylkill County and was organized in September 1861. This flag was a gift of Mr. John T. Werner and was carried by the regiment until left in Pottsville February 1864 when the re-enlisted men returned to the front. The 48th was mustered out of service on July 17, 1865.

48th Infantry, Regimental Color, 1864 Pottsville Presentation Color. The 48th was composed of men entirely from Schuylkill County and was organized in September 1861. This flag was presented to the regiment on February 3, 1864 and was carried by John Roarty until he was relieved October 2, 1864 by Sergeant Samuel A. Beddall. The 48th was mustered out of service on July 17, 1865.
