47th Infantry

47th Infantry, First State Color. The 47th regiment was composed of men from Northampton, Lehigh, Northumberland, Juniata, Perry, Dauphin, Luzerne, and Berks counties. They were organized early in September 1861, and were presented the flag by Governor Curtin on September 20. After most of the men re-enlisted in the winter of 1863-1864, the flag was retired on May 11, 1865. The 47th was mustered out of service on January 9, 1866.

The 47th was mustered out of service on January 9, 1866.
